Samarium cobalt magnets have a higher Curie temperature compared to neodymium magnets, meaning they can tolerate higher operating temperatures before they lose their permanent magnetic properties. Samarium cobalt magnets are also highly resistant to corrosion and oxidation. Because of this, samarium cobalt magnets are typically favored over neodymium magnets in applications that demand high field strength at high operating temperatures, as well as applications where potential corrosion is a concern (such as marine boating applications).
